Here are the top four stories in North Fork today:

  1. The former oyster factory in East Marion has been bought and locals fear the development of the site. Hamptons-based Paramount Homes purchased the Shipyard Lane site in October, known as the Oki-Do property, for $6 million and has plans to construct 80 condominium units, including some affordable units.   2. The Southold Fire Department's Annual Santa Parade is planned for this Saturday, Dec. 19 at 6 p.m., beginning at Southold High School and heading along Main Road to the Southold Fire Department, at 55135 Main Road. Decorated fire trucks will bring Santa to see residents. (Patch)
  3. For the first time in the Shelter Island’s history, three women will serve on the town board at the same time. The first meeting with the female majority will be in January. (Shelter Island Reporter)
  4. A dog discovered a rare turtle type on Shelter Island's Wades Beach. Kemp’s ridley sea turtles are extremely endangered. The cold stunned turtle was transported to the New York Marine Rescue Center at the Long Island Aquarium in Riverhead. (Shelter Island Reporter)
