Here are the top three stories today in North Fork:

  1. A resident of an emergency housing facility on Roanoke Avenue is charged with a felony after assaulting another resident. Nicholas Lobianco, 35, caused laceration and puncture wounds to James Meahan, 39. Both men are residents of a home operated by Community Housing Innovations. Two altercations were reported at the facility in one night, police said. (Patch)
  2. A North Fork family is mourning the sudden loss of a family member. TK Krumenacker is known for organizing events in Greenport and his daughter Taylor, 31, died suddenly on Dec. 21, leaving behind a daughter, 11, and son, 9. The community has started a fundraiser for the family. (Patch)
  3. Peconic Bay scallops are hard to find but some are available locally. The cost ranges from $50 to $55 a pound on the North Fork and up to $82 per pound on the South Fork. (Patch)

  • The North Fork Animal Welfare League welcomed Chiweenie puppies at the Southold location this week. Applications must be submitted. (Facebook)
  • A team of animal rescuers freed a 250-pound doe that was stuck between two fences at Rocky Point High School's football field. Strong Island Animal Rescue League and Yaeger's Run Rescue helped save the deer on Wednesday. (Patch)
