1. Gov. Kathy Hochul announced on Christmas Eve that health care workers who test positive for COVID-19 can return to work in seven days with a negative test instead of 10. (Patch)
2. A person was shot and killed in a home invasion in North Sea on Christmas morning. Around 8:46 a.m., a 911 call came in and responding officers found a person deceased with a gunshot wound. (Patch)
3. The Star Confectionery is a Riverhead luncheonette that dates from 1911. Owner Anthony Meras is the third generation to run the historical eatery. (CBS New York)
