2. Riverhead Town has hired an attorney to represent it against the two lawsuits against the new puppy mill legislation. On Dec. 7 the town board voted to hire John T. Maher for the lawsuits from local pet stores. (Subscription: Newsday)
3. A fire damaged multiple storage units at the CubeSmart self-storage facility on Mill Road in Riverhead. The Riverhead Fire Department responded to the 1:49 a.m. alarm and worked for several hours. (RiverheadLOCAL)
