North Fork Man Arrested After Stealing, Attempting To Deposit, Check: Police
He stole the check from a Shelter Island home, police say.
NORTH FORK, NY — A Mattituck man was arrested Friday after stealing a check from a home and trying to deposit it on Shelter Island, police said.
According to Shelter Island police, Carlos R. Alemos Perez, 54, was arrested on Friday at 6:22 p.m. on Shelter Island and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony; and fourth-degree attempted grand larceny, police said.
Police said Alemos Perez was arrested following an investigation into a stolen check taken from a residence and an attempted fraudulent deposit. He was arrested, processed, and issued an appearance ticket to appear at Shelter Island Justice Court at a later date, police said.
