Andrew G. Klopchin—a former POW and a 58 year Volunteer Fireman from Mazeppa Engine Co. #2 of the Nyack Fire Dept.—died at his home in the Village of Nyack early Friday morning with his family by his side.
He was named as Honorary Battalion Chief of the Nyack Fire Department in 2005. He was employed as a Tax Accounting Manager for Orange and Rockland Utilities for 35 years before retiring in 1989. He was born and raised in Rockland Lake, NY. He served as fire commissioner for Mazeppa Engine Co. for many years as well as Treasurer of the Nyack Fire Dept. for many years. He was a member of the American Legion Post # 310 in Nyack, NY. He is survived by a daughter Barbara and a son Andrew and two grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife Margaret in 2003. A wake will be held on Tuesday 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Hannemann Funeral Home, Inc. in Nyack. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 AM at St. Ann’s RC Church in Nyack. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.

The American Legion will hold a service on Tuesday evening at 7:15 PM at the funeral home and the Nyack Fire Dept. will hold a firematic service at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
