It was the day of the Oscars. My wife, Saundra Messinger and I were going to have a little get together with our friends at our place in Nyack. Four of our very good friends from Manhattan were coming to watch the Oscars.
We thought it would be clever to have a little "Red Carpet." So we put out two 2" X 4" red runners in our foyer. Then, I thought it would be cute to have a fake Oscar. I put on my yellow sun glasses, got in the car, and drove to the big box store. I found the section that had parts for railings. I bought one vertical piece and a round base. If I removed the bolt, from one piece I could bolt the two together. I went to the paint department where (based on the color of the caps on the spray paint cans) selected gold.

I drove back home. I made a make shift spray booth out of cardboard, took it outside, and painted the make shift "Oscar" After the paint dried, I proudly took it to our apartment to show it to my wife. I took off my yellow sunglasses only to discover, the Oscar was SILVER! My very supportive (Jewelry Designer) wife very cleverly exclaimed:"It's OK, everyone knows I work with silver"
