Nyack Hospital’s Breast Screening a Success

On Valentine's Day, Nyack Hospital offered free mammography and clinical breast exams for uninsured and underinsured women—and some 120 women came out.

“We were delighted to see such a strong turnout from the community; the team at The Breast Center felt extremely privileged and pleased to see women benefiting from everyone’s efforts, receiving the screening services, and enjoying the refreshments that day,” said Helen Rock, MBA, R.T. (T) Administrative Director, Breast & Women's Health Prevention Services.

The screening—funded by the Cancer Services Program of the Hudson Valley Region in partnership with Nyack Hospital, and, in part, with a grant from Capital One—enabled Nyack Hospital to reach out to community members who are financially unable to access screening programs through the traditional medical system.

Attendees enjoyed refreshments generously provided by New York State Senator David Carlucci, and had the opportunity to learn valuable breast health information.

“The response that we received from this event was truly overwhelming," said Carlucci. "Nyack Hospital has once again demonstrated to be an invaluable lifeline for women all across the Hudson Valley, and I would like to once again thank them for allowing me to join in their fight against breast cancer.”
