Rockland County Legislator and NY-17 Democratic congressional candidate Beth Davidson has launched an online policy portal designed to help voters across the Lower Hudson Valley learn where she stands on key issues affecting them, their families and communities.

The portal page featured on her campaign’s website, which can be accessed at bethdavidsonforcongress.com/beths-priorities, breaks down Davidson’s positions on a wide range of local, national, and global issues in accessible, plain language. On the portal, where the public can provide input and feedback via info@bethdavidsonforcongress.com, Davidson outlines her plan to tackle the affordability crisis and high property taxes by restoring the full State and Local Tax (SALT) Deduction—an issue that’s long affected thousands of local homeowners, eliminate harmful inflationary Trump tariffs, invest in more affordable housing across the region and boost small business growth and area economic development.

"Hudson Valley families deserve a representative who knows our challenges—and delivers real results from Day One,” Davidson said. “This new portal shows voters how I plan to deliver on the issues that matter most in our backyard.”

Davidson, a former school board member and longtime community leader who currently serves on the Rockland County Legislature, is Vice Chair of its Economic Development & Housing Committee. She also emphasizes her work as Chair of the legislature’s Environmental Committee, pointing to initiatives to protect the Hudson River, preserve open space, cleanup PFAS, invest in clean energy and improve clean water infrastructure for area communities.

Public safety and mental health are also priorities. Davidson supports law enforcement, universal background checks, red flag laws, an assault weapons ban, expanded mental health and addiction recovery services, stronger border security against fentanyl trafficking, and pedestrian safety enhancements.

In the healthcare section, Davidson—a two-time cancer survivor and parent who was able to start her family thanks to IVF—highlights proposals for paid family leave and stronger patient protections. Her platform also calls for defending Social Security and Medicaid, expanding Medicare to cover vision, hearing, and dental, and reopening local Social Security offices to reduce wait times.

Davidson has made reproductive freedom a key part of her campaign, calling for nationwide access to abortion and birth control, protection of IVF services, and repeal of the Hyde Amendment. She supports codifying the protections of Roe v. Wade at the federal level.

She advocates for comprehensive reform with a path to citizenship for Dreamers, enhanced border security, streamlined asylum processing, and prevention of fentanyl and human trafficking.

Davidson is also backing a range of good government and democracy reforms, including banning congressional stock trading, ending gerrymandering, and combating online disinformation. She calls for campaign finance reform and overturning Citizens United.

To secure America’ interests abroad, Davidson supports a two-state solution for Israel, an end to the war with Hamas with return of all hostages and increased aid for Gaza. She advocates supporting Ukraine, strengthening NATO alliances, enforcing sanctions on Iran, countering authoritarian threats from China and Russia, combating cyber warfare, and promoting diplomacy and human rights

Davidson has built a broad base of grassroots support across NY-17, with over 150 endorsements earned to date. Her campaign emphasizes her record of delivering bipartisan results, knowledge of local issues, and success in building coalitions across party lines. Her supporters also note that Davidson’s record of service, from fighting for affordable housing to protecting public schools and delivering real results on public safety, is aligned with the values of voters in NY-17. She and her husband, Jeff, moved to Nyack 20 years ago, where they are raising their two children, both of whom attend public school.

New York’s 17th Congressional District, currently represented by Republican Rep. Mike Lawler, includes all of Rockland and Putnam counties, northern Westchester County, and part of Dutchess County. The campaign is one of the most closely watched in the nation, as NY-17 is expected to be one of the most competitive House races in 2026.
