Boston Marathon Explosions: Police in Rockland County on Heightened Alert
Police monitoring situation in Boston; no indications of any threats locally.
Police in Rockland County are monitoring the developing situation in this afternoon in Boston, where several explosions took place near the finish line of the Boston Marathon.
Clarkstown Police Chief Michael Sullivan said police agencies in Rockland are on a heightened alert level, but he said there is no indication of any threats affecting Rockland communities.
Sullivan said local police agencies are advising officers to pay special attention to large gathering places - such as malls - and public buildings as well as houses of worship and transportation centers.

In Westchester, county police there have the bomb squad on standby and have a county helicopter in the air and a police boat working along the Hudson River. Security has also been stepped up at Westchester County Airport. The Rockland County Sheriff's Department said it also has bomb technicians on duty and they are monitoring the events in Boston.

However, Sullivan said that if a member of the public in Rockland County sees something that appears suspicious, they should call police. You can dial 911 anywhere in Rockland to reach local police.
"If you see seomething, say something," Sullivan said.
