Childhood Home Of Actress Hayden Panettiere Hits The Market For $4M
You can own the 3,500-square-foot, 4-bed, 4-bath, turnkey home in Snedens Landing, often referred to as the "Hollywood of the Hudson."

PALISADES, NY — If you've ever had your eye on the "French Ivy House," on Washington Spring Road, where Hayden Panettiere lived from 1998 to 2013, your chance is finally here because it's back on the market for $3.995 million.
According to the listing, the late 20th century French-style country home, built in 1998, was completely renovated by the current owners after they purchased it in 2021.
Richard Ellis, of Ellis Sotheby's International Realty, said the owners "spared no expense in the extensive improvements to the 3,500-square-foot turnkey home, which can be purchased completely furnished for a fee."

The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home features a mansard roof, a covered porch, crank-out casement windows with arched tops, barrel-shaped dormers, a two-car garage, and "an abundance of ivy growing on its stucco walls."
The interior was renovated with quarter-sawn oak floors and large slab Italian marble floors; kitchen and butler pantry with cabinets and marble counter tops; Sub-Zero appliances; hand-painted murals on silver-leaf paper in the dining room and butler's pantry; silk wallpaper; custom window treatments and carpets; two gas fireplaces; and marble bathrooms.

Additional features include a Sonos speaker system inside and outside; a second-floor den with a wet bar; California closets; and new mechanicals, including the water heater and three air conditioner compressors.

The listing says that exterior improvements include a new roof, fresh stucco, bluestone walkways, stone walls and a patio, sod, a gas firepit, a barbecue, fencing, garage doors and an extensive lighting system. There is also a secondary wing with a separate entrance, which would be ideal for a home office or extended family.
The property includes professionally designed, park-like grounds with stone walls and a patio; an extensive garden plan with water features, including a koi pond with water lilies and frogs; several daffodil and tulip plantings; and a wall of trees in the back.
"The home’s renovation exemplifies how thoughtful design can breathe new life into a charming gem while adapting it for modern living," Ellis said. "The home feels like it was built in a different time, with a fun layout, two staircases and lots of nooks and crannies. In addition to its timeless elegance characteristic of a European chateau, the home is in the exclusive neighborhood of Snedens Landing, which is well known for its rustic seclusion, connection to the arts and proximity to New York City."

Panettiere is best known for playing Claire Bennet on the superhero series "Heroes," Kirby Reed in the slasher horror franchise "Scream"; Juliette Barnes in the musical drama series "Nashville," which earned her two Golden Globe Award nominations for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries or Television Film; and Jaq in last year's action thriller, "Amber Alert."
Snedens Landing has a country feel, despite being located just 11 miles north of the George Washington Bridge. In addition to its proximity to NYC, the area is right on the Hudson River, is surrounded by parkland, has award-winning schools and has a 90-year-old tennis association.

The hamlet surrounding the property is often referred to as the "Hollywood of the Hudson" due to its stunning river views and the notable figures that have both stayed and lived nearby. Snedens Landing has been home to past and present celebrities, including Laurence Olivier, John Steinbeck, Katharine Hepburn, Orson Wells, Mike Nichols, Al Pacino, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Angelina Jolie, Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost, Bill Murray, and Diane Sawyer. The single town road which grants entry and exit allows for privacy and seclusion.
Annual taxes are estimated to be $36,323, and the property is zoned to the South Orangetown Central School District.
