'Dracula' Inspired Public Blood Drive At Elmwood Playhouse In Nyack

All donors will get $10 off a ticket to see the upcoming production of "Dracula" and be entered into a drawing a pair of Flex Passes.

NYACK, NY — New York Blood Center will host a blood drive from noon to 6:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Elmwood Playhouse in Nyack.

This will be the Elmwood Playhouse’s first blood drive, planned in conjunction with their upcoming production of "Dracula" running from Sept. 8 - Oct. 7.

All donors will get a $10 discount on a ticket to see the playhouse’s new production of "Dracula" and be entered into a drawing for a pair of Flex Passes to the playhouse. The Flex Pass is a flexible voucher for three shows of the winner’s choosing, which is the equivalent of a $160 value.

Blood donors can give every 56 days, and platelet donors can give twice per month.The Food and Drug Administration recently lifted eligibility restrictions for individuals who lived in Europe during certain periods of time.

Roughly one in seven hospital admissions require a blood transfusion. Those in need include: cancer patients, accident, burn, or trauma victims, newborn babies and their mothers, transplant recipients, surgery patients, chronically transfused patients suffering from sickle cell disease or thalassemia, and many more.
