NYACK– On Saturday, April 23 from 10 AM to 3 PM, the Rockland County YMCA is encouraging all kids and parents in Rockland County to come to the Y for a play date and commit to being active every day. It’s all part of the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day™ – the nation’s largest health day for families. This is a community event and activities are free and open to children and adults of all ages.
The Y holds Healthy Kids Day to bring families together to engage in fun, active play and learn healthier habits that help them grow and thrive. School-age children will particularly enjoy the activities which will include: parachute games, family swim, arts & crafts, karate,
face painting, family fitness activities, games at Memorial Park, healthy snacks and much more!
Those attending activities at the YMCA will be eligible for prizes and raffles; a goodie bag will be distributed to the first 100 participants.
Healthy Kids Day will kick-off at 10 AM with a walk at the North Parking Lot of Rockland State Park. Walkers who register in advance will receive a complimentary T-shirt. To register for the fun walk please contact mgiannattasio@rocklandymca.org with all participants names, ages and T-shirt size. Shirts come in youth and adult sizes, small, medium and large.
Activities continue at the Y’s Nyack Facility (35 South Broadway) starting at noon. There will be live entertainment by Tommy Gardner from the Uncle Brothers at 12:30 PM. Tommy will sing songs with audience participation.
As a leading nonprofit strengthening community through healthy living, the Y holds Healthy Kids Day to teach healthy habits to kids and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity. At a time when one in three children in the United States are overweight or obese (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), developing healthier habits that include increased physical activity is more important than ever.
