Piermont, NY: The Piermont Historical Society is happy to announce that it will be opening the Piermont Train Station to visitors several times in August and September of 2011. STATION DAYS will be held on August 7th, September 4th, and September 18th, 2011. The September 18th opening will be in conjunction with the 12th annual Hudson River Valley Ramble (www.hudsonriverrample.com), a program of over 200 exciting events to be held in the region over 3 weekends in September.
Built circa 1883, the Piermont Train Station is adjacent to the Old Erie Path and has been lovingly restored by the Society. It is at 50 Ash Street (Ash Street at Hudson Terrace) in Piermont, NY. The Station will be open to the public from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM on STATION DAYS, and admission will be free of charge. Members of the Society will be on hand to answer questions about the Station’s history and its recent rebirth.
The Piermont Historical Society, a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, is still in the process of completing restoration projects at the Station, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. Parking is available on Hudson Terrace and at the Piermont Community Center. For additional information, please call (845) 365-0655, or see www.PiermontHistoricalSociety.org.
