New Members Appointed to Nyack Housing Authority
Nyack residents Marie Lorenzini and Cara Bristol will join the Authority and play a role in operating the village's three low-income housing facilities.
Two new faces have been appointed to the Nyack Housing Authority, the committee that owns and oversees the operation of the village's three low-income housing facilities.
The new members are Marie Lorenzini and Cara Bristol. Nyack Mayor Richard Kavesh, who appointed both new members, announced their positions earlier today.
"We cast out a broad net," Kavesh said of the selection process. He noted both women were recommended by other village employees and residents.

Bristol has been a Nyack resident for two years—she initially moved to the region because of its "strong sense of community and social and economic diversity," she said in a related press release. Bristol also listed her goals as preserving and enhancing public spaces.
Bristol's term will expire in April of 2011.
Lorenzini and Bristol will work alongside the Authority's chair (Richard Gressle), the two other mayor-appointed members (Minerva Parker and Brooke Malloy) and the two tenant representatives (Gail Miller and Robert Reese).
The Authority members' jurisdiction includes Waldron Terrace, Depew Manor and the Nyack Senior Center. All three facilities were built with federal funds, but are granted services, land and a tax-exempt status by the village. Read more about the Nyack Housing Authority at its website.
