NJ Man Accused Of Robbing Mini-Mart Leads Police On Chase
Police said that the car the man was driving had stolen plates, and he had a suspended license.
CLARKSTOWN, NY — A New Jersey man who was accused of robbing a Rockland County mini-mart led police on a chase that crossed the Hudson River.
The New York State Police said, around 9:45 p.m. Monday, troopers were advised to be on the outlook for a car that was involved in a possible armed robbery of a store in Clarkstown.
Police said the vehicle — a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox — was seen traveling south on the Gov. Mario M. Cuomo Bridge and a stop was attempted.

The driver, later identified as Shahzad A. Khan, 41, of Carteret, New Jersey, failed to comply and police began pursuing him.
Khan got off the Thruway onto the Sprain Brook Parkway where troopers conducted a moving roadblock that finally brought his car to a stop.

He was taken into custody, after which it was found he was driving with a suspended license and both plates on his car were reported stolen.
Khan was charged with two counts of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, a felony, and third-degree unlawful fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle, second-degree reckless endangerment, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, resisting arrest, reckless endangerment of property, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation and reckless driving, all misdemeanors.
He was issued appearance tickets returnable to the City of Yonkers Court Jan. 6 and turned over to the Town of Clarkstown Police Department for the armed robbery of a mini-mart.
