Nyack Chooses Three For School Board Seats

Residents of the school district went to the polls Tuesday and voted on the budget, a proposition and the Board of Education.

NYACK, NY — Voters on Tuesday approved the school district budget and project proposal and chose three people for three-year terms on the Nyack Board of Education.

The election results according to the district clerk:

  • Michael Rothenbucher: 724
  • Jennifer Marraccino: 1239
  • Jessica Goodman: 1181
  • James Marshall: 969
  • Benny Vasquez: 1092
  • Jennifer Manca: 822

Nyack voters handily approved a $104.36 million budget for 2023-24. The vote was 1,834 "yes" to 328 "no."

"Thank you school community for passing the 2023-24 budget & proposition II," officials said on the district's website.

The second proposition on the ballot asked voters for approval to expend an amount up to $1,730,414 to fund, in part, the replacement of boilers in Upper Nyack ES, Liberty ES and the Hilltop Administration Building; to expend an amount not to exceed $1,160,000 from the Capital Reserve Fund 2015 to fund, in part, the installation of air conditioning and related electrical system upgrades throughout the District’s facilities; and to increase the ultimate amount of the Capital Reserve Fund 2015 to $25 million plus interest earnings.
