Nyack School Board to Vote on Proposed 2013-14 Budget

The Nyack School District Board of Trustees is expected to vote on the adoption of the proposed budget for 2013-14 at tonight's meeting.

The Nyack Board of Education will vote on the adoption of the proposed 2013-14 district budget, which would officially place it on the ballot May 21.

More information about the budget, which includes a 2.92% tax levy increase, putting the district $357,000 below the state mandated cap. The proposed budget had called for a 3.49% increase in the tax levy on March 19, but that was revised after the district received an additional $357,000 in state aid. The revised budget presentation can be found here.

The budget is just one part of a busy agenda, which can be found here. The board will also vote on the 2013-14 administrative budget for BOCES.

The budget includes a district-wide security upgrade that will include the installation of card reader access to all buildings, but due to the timing of the work, the board is expected to vote to approve LAN Associates to design the project.

The board will also hold a third reading of the board of education policy eliminating the open campus for students at Nyack High School beginning in 2013-14. Currently, students in grades 10-12 can walk off campus during lunch or cafe option periods with parent permission.
