Nyack SeptemberFest Returns Sunday
The event will showcase local businesses including newcomers who set up shop just before and during the pandemic.

NYACK, NY — Nyack will celebrate the last days of summer and welcomes fall by bringing back the SeptemberFest street fair on Sunday.
The Nyack Chamber of Commerce's legendary fair runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine, in the heart of the village on Main Street and Broadway. Browse a rich array of jewelry, clothing, accessories, art, gifts, and great food offered by 200+ vendors and scores of local businesses.
"After a year's hiatus, the Nyack Chamber is pleased to once again host our great SeptemberFest fair," said Roger Cohen, President of the Nyack Chamber. "This year's fair is in many ways a celebration of Nyack, our resilience, and our ability to come back from any and all challenges."

In addition to sampling wares from the hundreds of fair vendors, fest-goers can enjoy the many boutiques and restaurants that reside year-round in the village. More than two dozen local businesses are newcomers who have set up shop just before and during the pandemic.
"Small businesses in Nyack were hard hit by the COVID crisis," said Cohen. "But we're back even stronger than before, with many new businesses already operating, and new doors ready to open in coming months.

"SeptemberFest is an event, but it's also an invitation to visitors and residents to sample the village's special blend of memorable experiences," Cohen continued. "We want people to come back after our events to enjoy shopping, dining, music, art, theater, hiking, biking and river recreation."
'Safe' is a watchword in Nyack, officials said.
When COVID hit, the first task was to make Nyack a 'safe haven' for residents, visitors, businesses and their customers. As soon as there were guidelines for COVID protections, the village put them in place. Adherence to COVID safety protocols are still required at all events, and throughout the village.
"We're back to business," said Cohen. "We're also mindful that we're not out of the woods yet. The experiences of the past 18 months, and now the Delta variant, have taught us the hard lesson of ongoing vigilance."
According to Cohen, the pandemic has highlighted Nyack's attractive proposition — especially for city dwellers who want relief from the constraints of city life, but at the same time want the lifestyle amenities normally offered by large urban communities.
"People want to live, work and visit communities that offer unique shops, great restaurants, recreation and entertainment," said Cohen. "Nyack fits the bill."
Looking ahead: Upcoming Nyack events include an Oct. 10 street fair, and the highly popular Halloween festivities on Oct. 23.
"Small villages can do big things, said Cohen. "SeptemberFest 2021 speaks volumes about resiliency and what local communities can achieve despite potentially crippling challenges."
