Nyack Volunteer Firefighters Win Honors at Parade

Chelsea Hook and Ladder Co. wins trophy for best regulation uniforms.

Nyack volunteer firefighters won several honors at a recent fire parade that attracted volunteers from throughout the Lower Hudson Valley Region.

Members of the Nyack Fire Department's Chelsea Hook and Ladder Co. No 2, based on Catherine Street in Nyack, won the trophy in the Aug. 6 Ossining fire parade for the unit with the best regulation uniforms. Fellow Rockland volunteers from Stony Point's Wayne Hose Co. won the trophy for best dress uniform.

Chelsea Hook and Ladder also won second place for best ladder or aerial truck in the parade. Chelsea has one of two Nyack "tiller rigs" – an aerial ladder truck that has a driver on the rear of the truck to help steer around tight corners.
