$3.69M Snedens Landing Home Once Owned By Bill Murray Hits The Market
You can own the 5,177-square-foot home that once had the firepole from the 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie installed.

PALISADES, NY — If you've ever had your eye on the "Yellow House" on Ludlow Lane in Snedens Landing, once owned by Bill Murray, the answer to "Who you gonna call?" is Ellis Sotheby's International Realty.
Your chance to own a home with a fun "Ghostbusters" story is finally here because it's back on the market for $3.695 million.
The listing, by Marjorie Galen of Ellis Sotheby's International Realty, describes the property as being "set on nearly 4 acres straddling a private lane in Snedens Landing... that harkens back architecturally to the charming Yellow Barn and the bygone days of river village life in Snedens Landing."

The house was built in 1986 as a family home for actor/comedian Bill Murray and his wife at the time, Mickey Murray. It was originally part of the Claggett family estate, which included the architecturally significant Cedar Grove house next door to this property.
According to the listing, the award-winning architecture firm Shope Reno Wharton incorporated elements of the original structure on the property, "Yellow Barn," into a "new and expanded masterpiece," with modern conveniences in mind. Inspired by the design of the 19th century structure, the architect created the 5,177-s.f. house and free-standing two-car garage with an office/studio above.

The listing says that "light streams into the striking living room featuring beautiful architectural details," such as 15-foot-high ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, an office nook with a built-in day bed, unique windows and sets of French doors leading to a wraparound porch, a large lawn, and even a treehouse.
The rooms are all described as spacious, including the first floor primary suite and the formal dining room. The recently renovated kitchen with a large island and state-of-the-art appliances, is "located in the footprint of the Yellow Barn" and still has the original 19th century wood-burning fireplace. A laundry room and en suite au pair /housekeeper bedroom are located right off of the kitchen. Up the "prominent central staircase, bathed in light from the cupola above," the second story has an "enormous" primary suite with high ceilings, two walk-in closets, a full bath, and two "generous-sized" bedrooms which share a bath.

28 Ludlow Lane, a two-acre parcel on a separate/buildable tax lot, is also included in the sale.
Other owners of the home have included well-known actors, a composer, and, currently, artists whose work appears in museums around the world.
Snedens Landing has a country feel, despite being located just 11 miles north of the George Washington Bridge. In addition to its proximity to NYC, the area is right on the Hudson River, is surrounded by parkland, has award-winning schools and has a 90-year-old tennis association.
Murray and his wife purchased the property for $305,000 in May 1985, according to property records, before having the current home built the following year.
According to the New York Post, Murray installed the firepole from the 1984 "Ghostbusters" movie in the home. However, it was taken out when he sold the property in 1995.
Annual taxes are estimated to be $81,045, and the property is zoned to the South Orangetown Central School District.
