South Nyack Man, Piermont Man Charged in South Nyack Robbery

Police: Money, prescription medication taken, woman assaulted.

A South Nyack man and a Piermont man have been arrested in connection with an assault on a woman in South Nyack in which cash and prescription medication were stolen, according to South Nyack-Grand View Police.

Matthew P. Capuano, 25, of South Nyack, and Gianni Schettini, 24, of Piermont, were charged at 7:45 p.m. Sunday after an investigation of an incident in which a woman reported she had been robbed and assaulted in South Nyack.

Police said the woman suffered minor injuries in the incident and that prescription pills and cash were taken from her.

Capuano is accused of second-degree robbery and third-degree assault. Schettini is accused of second-degree robbery, criminal obstruction of breathing and forcible touching. They were arraigned in South Nyack Village Court and were ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $15,000 bail each.
