Two Arrested in South Nyack for Carrying Gun, Marijuana

The Virginia residents have been charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors.

Two Virginia residents were arrested in South Nyack yesterday when police discovered a loaded gun and marijuana in their vehicle.

Loren Mitchell, a 47-year-old resident of Montross, Virginia, was travelling north on I-87 through South Nyack with his passenger, Jennifer Kroft, a 32-year-old resident of King George, Virginia.

State Police troopers based in Tarrytown initially pulled Mitchell over for traffic violations at approximately 10:30 a.m. The troopers—with the help of a K-9 unit—consequently found marijuana and a loaded .38 caliber revolver in the vehicle.

Both Mitchell and Kroft were arrested and charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, a felony, and unlawful possession of marijuana. Mitchell was also charged with driving while impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor.

The two were arraigned in South Nyack Court and sent to Rockland County Jail with $40,000 bail.
