A young man from Upper Nyack was arrested in South Nyack Thursday morning after police found him in possession of marijuana and a switchblade knife, authorities said.
24-year-old James Whitfield was arrested on Cedar Hill Avenue. He was also driving with a suspended registration, according to chief Robert Van Cura.
The weapon possession and suspended license charges are misdemeanors, Van Cura said; the marijuana possession is a violation.

Correction: an earlier version of this story said Whitfield was allegedly in possession of a gun, not a knife. We regret the error.
