Alfred Milani, of Croton, Decorated World War II Vet, Dies at 95

Alfred V. Milani of Croton, NY and formerly of Ossining, NY, died on December 16, 2013, he was 95. Alfred was born in New York City on November 5, 1918, the son of Camillo and Annetta Savoretti Milani. 
 
Alfred attended DeWitt Clinton High School, where he won the Italian Language Award. An Army medic for one year, Alfred then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II as a top turret gunner in the 391 Bombardment Group and the 372 Bombardment Squadron. He received numerous medals for his heroic service. 
 
Alfred married Josephine Cervellone on April 15, 1950 at the Immaculate Conception Church in the Bronx. He served in the New York City Police Department, and then as a clerk in the New York State Supreme Court until retirement.
 
A devoted family man, Alfred enjoyed fishing with his son, listening to Italian opera, singing in his wonderful baritone voice, swimming, and rooting for the New York Yankees. Alfred was a member of the American Legion Post in Mt. Kisco, NY.
 
Survivors include his wife Josephine, his son Mark, daughters Mary Milani and Christina Stigliano. Seven grandchildren also survive him: Stephen Sevilla, Timothy Stigliano, Christopher Stigliano, Matt Stigliano, Jennifer Milani, Katie Milani, and Samantha Milani, as well as three great grandchildren.
 
Visiting hours will be Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM at Dorsey. The funeral Mass will be at St. Augustine’s Church on Thursday at 11 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
