Buchanan Village Election is Today

Incumbent trustees Theresa Knickerbocker and Duane Jackson will try to preserve their seats against former mayor Al Donahue during Tuesday's village elections.

Three candidates are vying for two seats in the March 19 election in the Village of Buchanan.

Trustees Theresa Knickerbocker and Duane Jackson, the Democratic candidates, will square off against former mayor, and Republican candidate, Al Donahue Tuesday.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. inside Buchanan Village Hall, located at 236 Tate Avenue.

Al Donahue

  • Married to Carolyn for 53 years, father of five children, grandfather of 21 grandchildren
  • Resident of the Village of Buchanan 48 years

Duane Jackson

  • Appointed as village trustee after Jane Hitney stepped down.
  • Ran for the Democratic nod in last year’s general election for the 18th U.S. Congressional District.
  • Helped law enforcement officials discover a terrorist's bomb in a SUV parked in Times Square on May 1, 2010.
  • 15 Years of experience as a business owner.
  • Former deputy director of housing, preservation and development in Brooklyn
  • Former city planner for the New York City Board of Education.
  • Member of the Buchanan Engine Company 1, America Legion Post 274 and Vietnam Veterans of America.
  • Has resided in the village for 18 years.
  • Married with two children who have graduated Hendrick Hudson High School.
