Ossining Driver Strikes Sleepy Hollow Teen

A 15-year-old female resident was hit by a Mercedes Thursday evening in Sleepy Hollow and taken to the hospital.

An Ossining driver struck 15-year-old girl on Beekman in Sleepy Hollow Thursday evening sending her to the hospital, Police Chief Gregory Camp confirmed this morning.

Sleepy Hollow resident Lois Weiss, who witnessed the scene, described it as almost a "quiet party" just after 7 p.m. as families came out of their apartments and kids came from the Morse playground across the street to see what was going on.

A grey Mercedes, driven by a 68-year-old Ossining woman with an older man the passenger seat, apparently hit the young woman as the car was turning onto North Washington Street from Beekman Avenue.

Camp said the girl complained of pain in her arm and leg.  Emergency responders, including Sleepy Hollow Ambulance Corps members got the teen sitting up in a head restraint. She was talking and alert, Weiss said.

North Washington was blocked off as the victim was treated and statements were taken from witnesses. Officers were examining the front of the car, which showed no signs of noticeable damage.
