Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School Celebrates Dr. Seuss

The children read some of Dr. Seuss's most popular books to celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday on Mar. 2.

From Croton On Hudson School District: Students at Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School in Croton-on- Hudson celebrated the birthday of celebrated children’s author Dr. Seuss by reading some of his most popular books this week.

Teacher librarian Renoir McManus displayed several Dr. Seuss books in the library and chose a selection to read with each class to mark his March 2 birthday.

“Dr. Seuss is an author who wrote books that have rhymes,” she shared with kindergartners. “Some of his books have made up words that are bright and colorful.”

The kindergarten students enjoyed following along as McManus read “Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?” and repeating some of the “wonderful noises” in the book, including “klopp,” “buzz” and “blurp.”
