Crime in Ossining

The recent slew of car break-ins in Ossining has many residents thinking about crime in the village and the town. Patch wants to know what you think about crime in both municipalities. The following is the original story on the Ossining car break-ins, which ran yesterday afternoon:

January 10, 2012 2:00 p.m. - Recently there have been multiple cars broken into in the Ossining area. Here is the Ossining Police Department's blotter regarding the slew of thefts:

"On January 9th the received reports that 5 vehicles had been entered overnight  at 35 Snowden Ave. Among the items taken were: a cell phone, i-pod, canon digital camera, 60 dollars in cash, a gps, a portable battery charger and a dvd player. Inside several of the cars the fuse box covers had been removed. A digital camera was recovered in a wooded area near the parking lot of 35 Snowden Ave. Several cars had no items taken but had been entered."

On Ossining & Croton's Facebook page, Anjali Malhotra Roye said that similiar thefts have been happening in Croton as well.

The recent thefts from residents' cars has prompted the police department to issue the following alert:

"The Ossining PD is investigating a series of overnight larcenies from unlocked vehicles. Please be sure to lock you vehicle and secure all valuables. Contact the Ossining Police Dept. if you observe any suspicious activity. (914) 941-4099."
