Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School’s eighth-grade students shared tips about fitness, nutrition and related subjects like self-esteem and stress when they visited Carrie E. Tompkins Elementary School’s physical education classes in Croton-on-Hudson.
“We are teaching fourth-graders about fitness and how it’s important to have healthy habits,” said eighth-grade student Elan Roth, whose health class visited CET on May 17.

Roth and his peers taught the students skills like how to do a proper push-up, how to stretch their muscles before and after physical activity and how to make healthy food choices. A group of eighth-graders commented that the younger students’ enthusiasm made the lessons especially fun.
Said Roth, “They are really excited about learning and excited to be going to middle school next year.”
