Croton Police: Unruly Group, Downed Wires

Unruly Group

Croton Police responded to a noise complaint on July 15 just before 6 p.m. at 121 Maple Street. The caller described a group of drunk males in the parking lot at the Blue Pig ice cream shop, hanging around a small BMW coupe and causing a traffic problem.

At the scene, police found a female driver and two male passengers. They said they had tried to park in the lot and been told they couldn't, so they moved to the street. The woman said she lived one door down so was not illegally parked. Police Sgt. John Nikipoulos said police found them to be just yelling out their windows and no violations were issued.

Hazardous Condition

A driver complained to Croton police that the crew working on the road yelled at him for trying to pass through.

The driver said they had closed the road down and he was trying to get through Old Post Road North at Prospect Place on July 16 at 1:18 p.m.

Sgt. Nikipoulos said crews are repairing one piece of rough road at the top of Prospect Place "and it's a blessing they did it."

Low-Hanging Wires

A resident called police to complain of low-hanging wires on Grand Street. She said she had called Verizon on July 18 but as of July 20 no one had come do the repairs. Police found phone wires on the ground and also attempted to contact Verizon, finally getting through to someone at the company who said they would come.

False Verizon Account

Someone opened a phone line under a Wolf Road's resident name, complained a man to Croton police on July 20. He had not received any phone but did have the bill from Verizon for an account he had not opened. Police are investigating.

Tree Limb in Roadway

Police cleared a hazardous condition on a Lexington Drive when they moved a tree limb from the roadway at 11:08 p.m. on July 20. A DPW would come to clear it.

Mischief Painting

A Croton park ranger reported to police the morning of July 22 finding a painting in white, gray and black with the word "Child" under it in the Half Moon Bay parking lot. Officials would remove.
