Ossining: Fire Department Parade

Where: Parade Route starts from Croton Ave and Campwoods Rd., west on Croton Ave, across Rte. 9 to Main St. and proceeds down Secor Rd. to the Ossining Waterfront.

When: Friday, August 2 starting at 7 pm.

Cost: Free

Description: The Annual Ossining Fire Department Parade features Departments from Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Warren Counties and Connecticut.

Ossining: Eight-Legged Wonders and Magical Stories

Where: Teatown Lake Reservation, 1600 Spring Valley Road, Ossining

When: Saturday, August 3, 2013, 1 p.m. (spiders); Sunday, August 4 at 10 a.m. (stories)

Cost: Free for members; $5 per person for nonmembers

Description: Did you ever wonder how a spider manages to coordinate all of its legs? Or how it spins a web? We’ll go outside and investigate spider haunts for webs, and their inhabitants. Then on Sunday Join Mary Barrett as she spins some yarns about the animals that inhabit Teatown’s woods. Programs fill quickly so registration is strongly recommended. Somers: Clam Bake

Where: Somerfields Restaurant, Somers Town Center at Route 100 & 202

When: Saturday, Aug. 3 at 5 p.m.

Tarrytown: Martha's Vineyard Photo Exhibit

Description: Please join us on Friday, August 2nd from 7-9 pm for an Artist Reception for area photographer Michael Witkowski. Also enjoy live music by Jim Keys and the culinary delights of Chef Michael Shanker of the Flavor Vault.

Tarrytown: Dance the Day Away with Evolve Dance at the Y

Where: Family YMCA at Tarrytown, 62 Main Street, Tarrytown

Description: Live Music, Bake Sale, Raffle and a day full of dance classes. All ages and levels welcome at only $5 per class.

Thornwood: Fiddler on the Roof

Where: Westlake High School (825 Westlake Dr., Thornwood)

When: Friday, Aug. 2 at 8 p.m.; Saturday, Aug. 3 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 4 at 2 p.m.

Cost: $20 adults; $15 seniors/students

Description: A number of locals from around Westchester County will be taking part in the Mount Pleasant Community Theater production of Fiddler on the Roof this weekend and next. Purchase tickets in advance here.

Valhalla: 14th Annual Heritage of India Festival

Where: Kensico Dam Plaza in Valhalla

When:  Sunday, Aug. 4, from 12:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Cost: Admission and parking are free.

Description: The festival will feature the delicious foods of India, live music, folk dancing and cultural performances. There will also be a fashion show showcasing colorful native clothing. Festival-goers can create their own cultural fashion by decorating themselves with Mehndi, the henna bridal make-up that dates back to ancient India. Visitors can also browse a merchandise bazaar where a variety of vendors will be selling Indian clothing, jewelry, CDs, DVDs and delicious Indian cuisine. Traditional Rangoli art and other craft exhibitions will be on display as well.

White Plains: 2014 Miss Westchester & Miss Hudson Valley Pageants

Where: White Plains Performing Arts Center, 11 City Pl., White Plains, NY

When: Saturday, Aug. 3 at 4 p.m.

Cost: Tickets, which range in price from $35 to $50, can be purchased here.

Description: Young women ages 14-26 from Westchester County and the Hudson Valley Region will compete for the chance to become Miss Westchester, Miss Westchester Teen, Miss Hudson Valley and Miss Hudson Valley Teen. Contestants will compete in the categories of Swimsuit, Evening Gown, Judges Interview and On-Stage Question. The winners will go on to represent Westchester and Hudson Valley at the Miss New York USA and Miss New York Teen USA competitions at Purchase College Performing Arts Center in January.

Yorktown: Fabulous 60's - Concert at the Gazebo

Where: Jack DeVito Veterans Memorial Park Gazebo, Veterans Road

When: Sunday, Aug. 4 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Cost: Free

Description: The Yorktown Lions Club presents the Fabulous “Sixties” Rock Show. Carmello’s Food Truck will be selling Hot Dogs & Soft Drinks, etc at the Park. Bring your lawn chair or blanket and enjoy. Concerts go on rain or shine. If inclement weather, the concerts move inside to the Yorktown Stage Theater.

Yorktown: Mohansic Grill & Lounge at the Mohansic Golf Course

Where: 1500 Baldwin Road, Yorktown Heights

When: Sunday, Aug. 4 at 5 p.m.

Cost: $30 for adults ($15 for kids under 10) includes tax and gratuity

Description: Enjoy an all-you-can-eat buffet and BBQ. There will be live music by Drew Bordeaux, Geoff Hartwell & Pete "Petey Hop" Hopkinson. The event will benefit the Lupus Research Institute. Reservations are suggested - Call 914-962-9300.
