Guitarist Eric Gales to Perform at Mike Risko Music

The event is scheduled for Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m.

John Page Classic Guitars and Mike Risko Music, mid-Westchester’s leading music school and store, jointly announced that renowned blues rock guitarist Eric Gales will perform at Mike Risko Music on Wednesday, June 15 at 7 p.m. The event will be hosted by Mike and Miriam Risko, owners of Mike Risko Music. Also present will be John Page, acclaimed custom guitar builder and designer of the John Page Classic guitar that Eric Gales will play, and Howard Swimmer, founder & CEO of HRS Unlimited, the parent company of John Page Classic Guitars. Admission is free.

Eric Gales is among the most celebrated guitarists alive. Born into a musical family in Memphis, Tenn., Gales was signed to Elektra and released his first record at age 16. He was immediately voted “Best New Talent” in the Guitar World Magazine Reader’s Poll – the beginning of a storied career that includes radio hits like "Sign of the Storm,” numerous award-winning albums, performances at Woodstock ’94 with Carlos Santana and selection as a featured guitarist on the “Experience Hendrix” tour.

It’s natural to compare Eric Gales to Jimi Hendrix; Gales is both a left-handed guitarist of extraordinary ability and an expressive vocalist. However, Gales has developed a unique blues rock sound of his own, one that draws upon influences as diverse as Albert King and Eric Johnson.

Gales’s contemporary, Joe Bonamassa, states, “Eric Gales is one of the best, if not the best, guitarist in the world today.”

Gales will be playing a John Page Classic Ashburn model, the only new guitar brand inducted into the prestigious Guitar Player Magazine 2015 Hall of Fame. John Page Classic makes the custom design genius of John Page available in accessible “production” models that appeal to elite guitarists and serious students alike. Numerous John Page Classic guitars will be available at the event so attendees can test drive the brand for themselves.

“We’re thrilled to host Eric Gales,” said Mike Risko. “It’s a rare opportunity for our students and anyone in the area with an interest in learning to play guitar to see and interact with one of the greatest blues rock guitarists of our time.”

Howard Swimmer said, “A growing number of serious guitar students are choosing a John Page Classic guitar to be their ‘first real guitar.’ This event enables them to touch, feel and play the instruments.”
