The first day of school may be closer than you think. So, it’s time to dust off those backpacks and make some plans. To help, here are some important dates to plan around in the 2016-17 Ossining Union Free District calendar:
Superintendent’s Conference Days (no students): August 30-31
First day of school: Sept. 1
Labor Day (school closed): Sept. 5
Rosh Hashanah (school closed): Oct. 3, Oct. 4
Columbus Day (school closed): Oct. 10
School closed: Oct. 11
Yom Kippur (school closed): Oct 12
Election Day, Superintendent’s Conference Day (school closed): Nov. 8
Veterans Day (school closed): Nov. 11
Early Release/Half Day: Nov. 23
Thanksgiving (school closed): Nov. 24-25
Holiday recess: Dec. 26-Dec. 30, Jan. 2 (school resumes Jan. 3)
Martin Luther King Jr. Holiday (school closed): Jan. 16
Winter Recess (school closed): Feb. 17, 20, 21
Superintendent’s Conference Day (school closed): March 1
Half Day/Teacher Institute Day: March 23
Holiday recess: April 10-17
Memorial Day recess (school closed): May 26 - 30
Half day of instruction: June 22, 23
Snow days: If no snow days are used, school will be closed on May 26, May 30, April 17 and April 10 in that order.
