Opinion: Vote to Support Ossining's School Bond
Ossining resident Ratna Bindra writes about why you should vote for the Ossining bond referendum in her letter to the editor.

To the Editor:
I am an Ossining resident and I whole-heartedly support the bond and hope that others in the community will do the same.
Our schools are literally falling apart. Roofs are leaking, ceiling tiles are falling and our ancient boilers are just waiting to fail. This is a hazardous situation for all and a liability for the community at large. So why wouldn’t we protect ourselves by voting yes for the School Bond that seeks to cost-effectively address these pressing issues without raising taxes? How could we turn away $22 million in NY State Building Aid to help pay for the project? How can we put this off for yet another year, knowing full-well that if we don’t do this now, we will have to do it soon enough for a far greater cost?
For taxpayers in this community, the bottom line is that this Bond is the most fiscally disciplined way to pay for maintenance and repairs that are unavoidable. And as a parent of two young children who are about to enter the Ossining school system, supporting this Bond is the most responsible action I can take to ensure their safety and well being.
