OPINION: Voting in Favor of Ossining's Bond Proposal
Ossining residents Farai and Vanessa Nyoni write about why you should vote for the Ossining bond referendum in their letter to the editor.

To the Editor:
We have always taken a keen interest in our two children’s education in the , and over the years have stayed abreast of education discussions and the betterment of the district.
After following the initial bond proposal and the process it went through to its final vote last year, we were disappointed that it did not pass. One reason it failed was that some of our fellow parents believed it would pass and did not come to vote. It made sense that the community would want to fix facility issues. Our children spend half their time there and they deserve safe facilities that are conducive to learning.
A year later, our school facilities are still facing huge issues. Some walls are fatigued and near collapse, roofs are leaking, boilers are old, inefficient and on their last legs. We cannot continue to bury our heads in the sand; we have to take responsible action and do what’s right for our children and community.
Now, like any responsible citizens, we are concerned about tax increases, misguided projects, etc. We can now say that, after actively participating in the discussions on the recent modified bond proposal, it was done with a higher focus on fiscal responsibility. This new bond is designed not to increase taxes, which is a significant accomplishment.
Parents, do not assume others will vote for you. Show your support on Tueday, March 6 th at the voting polls!
