Ossining in Tap Water Contest Today

Ossining is going to try to beat out last year's winner, New Rochelle, for the best tap water in the county.

The following information has been provided by Westchester County:

Whose tap water beats the competition? You be the judge. The Westchester County Department of Health will hold its annual municipal water taste contest today, and everyone is welcome to sip and vote.

This year’s blind taste test, hosted as part of National Drinking Water Week, will be held in front of the Michaelian Office Building, 148 Martine Avenue, White Plains, 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. If it rains, the taste test will take place at the same time and place on Wednesday, May 9.

The nine participating water suppliers in this year’s competition will be: Cortlandt Consolidated Water District; Village of Elmsford; Greenburgh Consolidated Water District #1; ; City of Peekskill; United Water New Rochelle; Westchester County Water District #3; City of White Plains and City of Yonkers.

Last year’s winner and the one to beat is United Water New Rochelle.

“The annual drinking water contest is a great way to showcase the fine quality of our public water supply,” said Sherlita Amler, MD, commissioner of health. “The local, county and state professionals who monitor our public water systems to ensure safe drinking water for county residents deserve our thanks.”
