Ossining Mayor Commends OHS Students
Mayor Bill Hanauer congratulated OHS students for their charitable work.

The following news release is from Cablevision:
Cablevision’s MSG Varsity and Power to Learn, along with Mayor William Hanauer, today recognized students at Ossining High School for participating in this year’s Charity Champions, a program from Power to Learn that promotes volunteerism and encourages area high schools to raise funds for a charity of their choice. The school was presented with $1000 to be donated to the American Cancer Society/Relay for Life and also received $500 for the furtherance of the students’ charitable activities.
At the event, Mayor Hanauer recognized the students for their dedication to the charity and student advisor Debra Jacoby discussed the school’s involvement with Charity Champions. As part of their upcoming fundraising efforts, the students will hold bake sales, benefit concerts and plans are in the works for a student/faculty basketball game to take place during March Madness. The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life is an overnight relay-style event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for cancer research and programs for those battling cancer.

“Ossining High School students are true champion volunteers. I am confident that, as always, they will raise a significant sum to help defeat the devastation of cancer,” said Mayor Hanauer. “I commend them and their advisor for their commitment and I thank MSG Varsity and Power to Learn for bringing the Charity Champions program to Ossining’s great school. I look forward to joining the Relay on June 2nd, as always, and urge all Ossining will turn out to join in the culmination of our students’ fundraising efforts.”
