2 Arrested In Connection With Shots Fired At Bellport Home: Police
Shots were fired into homes on Aug. 2 and Aug. 3, Suffolk police said.
BELLPORT, NY — Two people have been charged in connection with shots fired at homes in Bellport earlier this month, Suffolk police said.
Shots were fired into an occupied home on Atlantic Avenue in Bellport on Aug. 2 at around 11:20 p.m., police said, adding that several hours later, 5th Precinct officers on patrol nearby heard multiple shots around two hours later at 2:30 a.m.
The officers saw a 2021 Kia driving away from the area and it was determined the shots were fired into another home on Atlantic Avenue in Bellport, police said.

The unoccupied Kia was later found in a wooded area after crashing, police said, adding that the owner, a 31-year-old Patchogue woman reported that her Kia had been stolen.
Following an investigation, 5th Squad detectives charged Tarik Rountree, 27, of Patchogue, with two counts of first-degree reckless endangerment and four counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon for the shootings.

Rountree’s acquaintance was charged with third-degree falsely reporting an incident, a misdemeanor, for reporting her vehicle had been stolen, and released on an appearance ticket.
Rountree will be held overnight at the 3rd Precinct and is scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday.
