22st Anniversary Of 9/11 To Be Marked By Local Community On Monday

From Mastic to Ronkonkoma, the Brookhaven Town community will honor those who perished in the World Trade Center terror attacks in 2001.

BROOKHAVEN TOWN, NY — Members of the Brookhaven Town community will honor local people and first responders who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, on Monday, the 22nd anniversary of the terror attacks.

Here's a list of events you can attend:

  • Bellport: The Village of Bellport, the fire department, and South Country Ambulance will hold a ceremony at 7 p.m. at Bellport Marina.
  • Patchogue: The fire department will host a ceremony at its headquarters on Jennings Avenue at 6 p.m.
  • Mastic: The Mastic Community Ambulance Company will join with the fire department for a ceremony at the memorial to fallen FDNY firefighter Kevin Smith on Mastic Road at 6:30 p.m. That will be followed by another ceremony at the fire department.
  • Ronkonkoma: The Lakeland Fire District will host a ceremony in its Garden of Heroes on Monday at 7 p.m.

Also, earlier in the day, Suffolk County officials will gather at the 9/11 memorial in Hauppauge at 8 a.m.
