Clammer Stuck In Ice Near Smith Point Rescued By Long Island Police

The boat became lodged in the ice at around 2:30 p.m., Suffolk police say.

SHiRLEY, NY — A clammer was rescued from a boat that became stuck in the ice near Smith Point Bridge in Shirley on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

Marine Bureau officers responded to the scene after a 911 caller reported the stranding at about 2:30 p.m., according to police.

The officers used their boat to break up the ice and towed the boat with one person aboard to shore, police said.
