Man Indicted After Striking 2 Workers In Suffolk BOCES Parking Lot: DA

NORTH BELLPORT, NY —A Brooklyn man was indicted recently after he ran his vehicle into two BOCES employees in a North Bellport parking lot in June, Suffolk County District Attorney Ray Tierney said.

According to the DA, Josef McLorrain, 22, was indicted on charges including two counts of second-degree attempted murder after he hit the two in the Eastern Suffolk BOCES parking lot.

According to the investigation, on the morning of June 24, McLorrain was driving a black Mazda Tribute in the parking lot of Eastern Suffolk BOCES’ Bellport Academic Center.

McLorrain accelerated his vehicle and drove towards a group of five employees who were walking in the parking lot, striking two of them, the DA said. The two were propelled onto the vehicle and then thrown to the ground before McLorrain fled the scene, Tierney said.

Both were transported to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue for treatment, the DA said.

According to Tierney, on August 7, McLorrain was arraigned on the indictment before Supreme Court Justice Richard Ambro, on charges including two counts of second-degree murder, Class B felonies; two counts of first-degree attempted assault, Class C felonies; and two counts of second-degree assault, Class D felonies.

Justice Ambro ordered McLorrain held on $100,000 cash, $250,000 bond, or $500,000 partially secured bond during the pendency of the case. McLorrain is due back in court on September 11, and he is being represented by Christopher J. Cassar, who did not immediately respond to a request for comment
