- For the first time a Latina woman runs a seat at Patchogue Village Board of Trustee. Lizbeth Carrillo has been involved in local government activities and on Dec. 7., she took her trustee seat during a ceremony held at Patchogue Village Hall where she hopes to improve the lives of the Latino community. (Newsday)
- Suffolk police received a 911 call about a van in flames with two passengers inside on Country Road in Coram last Saturday. The driver, from Mount Sinai, was transported to Stony Brook Hospital with non-life- threating injuries. The other passenger, a non identified woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. Police said it's a non-crime nature investigation. (Port Jefferson Patch)
- A senior citizen from Shoreham lost his life on a tragic car crash in Bellport last Saturday. The 65 year-old was rushed in a ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said. The jeep he was driving showed signs of mechanic problems according to the police. (Patchogue Patch)
- Bellport Country Club hosted a annual Holiday Dinner on Dec. 2 and councilman Michael Loguercio attended the event. Loguercio is well know for his efforts to make the Bellport- East Patchogue area a better place to live for everyone. (Press Release Desk)
- It's the season of giving and a 9 years old girl from Long Island helped Santa with a outstanding donation for the children at Stony Brook hospital. The little Santa helper raised $600 selling chocolate pops and was able to buy 50 items in goodies to give away as Christmas presents. (WABC-TV)
