- A home in East Patchogue was caught on fire on New Year's Eve. The blaze started about 6:20 a.m. at Scherger Avenue. The house and a parked car were damaged. No injuries were reported police said. The fire marshal's office is working to determine the cause of the fire, police said. (Patchogue Patch)
- Nearby News: Applications for the the Gleneagle Green affordable housing apartment complex in Bellport are available. Hard copies will be accepted at specific offices on Jan. 4. Deadline for applications must be in or postmarked by Mar. 7. The lottery will be held Mar. 21. (LI Advance)
- Gabby Petito was Remembered By Parents On New Year's Eve. Family and friends of Gabby Petito released luminaries into the sky to mark the first New Year's without her. - Patchogue Public Library invites the community to celebrate Black History Month. During the months of January and February, Reflects of the civil rights movement and African American Genealogy will be discussed in community programs at Patchogue- Medford Public Library.
