  1. Long Island Community Hospital in Patchogue restricts visitors. The new guidelines include suspension of visitors in the ER department, and inpatient visitors are restricted to one person per day. All people who qualify under the new policy must be vaccinated or bring a negative COVID-19 test. (Patchogue Patch)
  2. Second fire on New Year's Day reported at a home in East Patchogue. The second fire broke out in the garage of a house in Washington Avenue. It was the second fire in the area in about 18 hours. The cause of fire was not immediately available from police. (Patch)
  3. Marky Ramone will perform at Patchogue Theatre for the Performing Arts. Ramones' fans will be able to see drummer Marky Ramone on an interactive show called: "WORDS: My Life as a Ramone," on Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the theater window or click on the link to purchase online.   4. Nearby News: Driver killed in Central Islip head-on crash. Suffolk Police is investigating a fatal head-on crash that killed a man in Central Islip on Jan. 2. A man was driving a Toyota Camry westbound on West Suffolk Avenue when his vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a Ford Mustang, driven by Fernando Cordero, head on in front of 101 West Suffolk Ave. Police said the driver of the Toyota was transported to a hospital in Bay Shore where he was pronounced dead. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Third Squad at 631-854-8352. (Islip Bulletin)
