1. Patchogue Mayor Paul Pontieri creates the "Be Safe Be Seen" program after a 2-year-old girl was fatally struck by a pickup while walking with her mother. The program aims to distribute safety vests to protect pedestrians and bicyclists. Anyone who wants a vest can go to the Town Hall, Police Department, or the Community Library. (News 12 Long Island)
2. A family from Patchogue creates a "Stomp the Stigma 5K" memorial walk/run at Shorefront Park in Patchogue to honor the life of Ellyana DeLaTorre. The event is set for May 28 and will help a non-profit foundation to honor her legacy by helping others who struggle with mental health issues. (Patchogue Patch)
3. The IHOP location opening in Medford is the 20th Long Island location. The restaurant will be located at 700 E. Patchogue Yaphank Road. (Greater Long Island)
4. A GoFundMe page has been created to help the family of a mother of three killed in a drunk driving crash. The donations will be used to ship her remains to El Salvador so her family will be able to give her a funeral in her homeland. (Patchogue Patch)
5. Nearby News: Residents in East Islip wants to prevent a local bowling alley from being turned into a senior living facility. The community considers the bowling alley a landmark and one of the few spots in town the kids go in the neighborhood. A petition is out with 900 signatures. (News12)
