  1. Patchogue resident Dennis Ross is planning to seek a full-term seat on the Village of Patchogue Board of Trustees in the March 15 election. Ross has been residing in Patchogue for over 20 years. He has a business background and plans to use these skills to protect the Village's taxpayers. Though he is not a politician, he considers himself a community man. (LI Advance)
  2. Patchogue-Medford Public Library kicks Women's History Month with a series of community services. The opening program for the month is "Tracing Your Women Ancestor’s Occupations and Volunteer Work" on Wednesday, March 9 from 10- 11:30 a.m. Register here. (PMPL)

Fire Island Seashore is hosting a Winter Beach Nature Explorers and Scavenger on March 6 at 1 p.m. Come out for a fun afternoon at the Smith Point County Park and win prizes when completing the scavenger card!   4. Tourism on Long Island is expected to climb up as MacArthur Airport becomes busier with new airlines coming in. MacArthur could generate $276 million in tourist spending annually, according to an HIA-LI analysis, these numbers are based on the possibility of 100 full flights a day, as opposed to the current 20 flights a day, according to airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose-Arken.
