  1. Police detectives are investigating a robbery that occurred at a Commack bank the afternoon of Dec. 12. A man entered Chase Bank around 1 p.m. and handed a teller a note demanding cash, then he fled in an unknown direction. The robber is described as an adult male, approximately 6 feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a dark-colored jacket and hat and a blue face mask. Detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call the Major Case Unit at 631-852-6555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential. (TBRNews)
  2. The Village of Patchogue has been awarded $7.7 million from a Department of Environmental Conservation Water Quality Improvement Project to upgrade wastewater treatment. The project also aims to reduce the amount of nitrogen entering Patchogue Bay. This grant will allow the Village to expand the wastewater treatment plant by 400,000 gallons per day. (LI Advance)
  3. An accident involving two trucks caused delays on the South side of the Long Island Expressway last Tuesday. The crash caused approximately 80 gallons of diesel to spill and took several hours to be cleaned. The accident happened at the intersection of Old Medford Road just after 10 a.m. The cause of crash is under investigation. (Patch)
  4. Long Island mom opens boutique in son's memory. Tova Keblish wanted to honor her son, Gavin Keblish, who was 23 years old when he died unexpectedly from an overdose in 2016. The shop sells mostly inspirational and spiritual items and is located at 333 Main St. in Center Moriches. (Newsday)
