Police ID Nassau Man Killed In Head-On Crash With DWI Driver In Bay Shore: Cops
The stolen Honda he was in crossed over the double yellow line, crashing into a BMW on Montauk Highway, Suffolk police said.
BAY SHORE, NY – Suffolk police have identified the driver killed in the head-on crash in Bay Shore on Friday morning, Suffolk police said.
Amanpreet Singh, 33, of Bethpage, was driving a 2016 BMW eastbound on Montauk Highway, near Gardiner Drive, when a westbound 2012 Honda that was stolen crossed over the center double line and crashed into his car, at around 10:15 a.m., police said, adding that the Honda caught fire while the driver was still inside.
Patrol units responded, and two officers were injured as they tried to rescue the driver from the burning vehicle, police said.

The driver of the Honda, James Lozier, 29, of Levittown, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner, according to police.
Police did not release any further details about Lozier.

Singh was arrested and treated for injuries at the scene, and then taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in serious, but stable condition, police said.
Police officers Matthew Hess and Daniel Lynch were treated for second-degree burns on the hands and for smoke inhalation at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, according to police.
Both vehicles were impounded, police said.
Singh is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Sept. 14, according to police.
