Police Seeking SUV Driver Who Fled Fatal Crash

Police are asking for the public's help to find the driver who fatally struck a bicyclist on Long Island last month.

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY – Police are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the driver who fled the scene of a fatal crash in East Patchogue last month.

Alexis Velasquez (pictured below), 30, of Bellport, was riding his bicycle eastbound on Montauk Highway, about 1000 feet west of Gazzola Drive, at about 4:30 a.m. on April 28 when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Detectives believe the vehicle that struck Velasquez is a silver 2013 to 2015 Nissan Rogue, similar to the photo above, and sustained damage to the front passenger side. The vehicle fled eastbound on Montauk Highway.
